Rains in Chennai Heavy rainfall disrupts normal life

Heavy to very heavy rain is expected over Coastal Tamil Nadu including Chennai, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh in next 24 hours. While moderate intensity rain is likely over Rayalaseema and interior parts of Tamil Nadu. Remaining parts of Peninsular India will witness scattered light to moderate rain.

Many parts of Tamil Nadu including capital Chennai were pounded by heavy rain on Tuesday, disrupting rail, air and road traffic. This is the worst rain that the city has seen in nearly a hundred years, the weather office said.

A section of a major road in Chennai caved in as heavy rain continued to pound the city as also other parts of Tamil Nadu.
